Akash Nishad/Jabalpur: There are such mysterious temples in the country whose mystery has not been solved even by science till date. In the year 2013, the entire Kedarnath was destroyed due to the devastation in Uttarakhand, but even that tsunami could not harm the Kedarnath temple. Scientists tried their best to find out the reason for this but could not reach any concrete conclusion. There is a similar temple in Jabalpur as well. The Panchakshar Bholenath temple built on the banks of the Narmada river in Khari Ghat is about 1500 years old. This temple remains submerged in water for about four months every year and even after that it does not suffer any damage.
Bholenath can be seen from all four directions
It is said that the stones used to build the temple are not found anywhere else. The special thing is that when you look at this temple from all four directions, you can see Bholenath from every direction. There is an ancient Shivling of Bholenath in the temple and along with it his entire family is there. There are Kartikeya, Ganesh, Parvati and Bholenath’s vehicle Nandi in the temple. All these idols are about 1.5 thousand years old.
This temple built on the banks of Narmada remains submerged in water for 4 months. It is believed that during the rainy season, Narmada herself performs Jalabhishek of Bholenath. Due to this, the importance of this Shivling also increases. It is said that Khari is immersed at the ghat on which this temple is situated, hence it is called Khari Ghat. It is considered to be one of the oldest ghats of Jabalpur.
The temple is stable even in strong currents
During the rainy season, when the gates of the dam located in Bargi are opened, the water level of Narmada rises considerably, due to which this temple remains submerged in Narmada for many days. The temple of Lord Shankar is built here without pillars, yet it is resting on a sandy base inside the river. When it is difficult for people to stand in the middle of the river flow, this temple stands even in a very strong current without shaking. This is considered to be the strength of Lord Shankar.
The circumambulation of this temple is equal to the complete circumambulation of Narmada
It takes 3 years, 3 months and 13 days to complete the Parikrama of Narmada, but this temple is believed to be such that whoever completes the Parikrama of this temple of Narmada once, gets the benefits equivalent to the complete Parikrama of Narmada.
